Membership Policies
How memberships, households, and guardian presence work at Illuminate Studios.
What Is a Household?
A Household is defined by legal caregiving responsibility\u2014not by a shared address, friendship, extended-family relationship, or who happens to bring a child to class. One verified adult account is the Household Owner, and all children using the membership must be that adult\u2019s legal children, legal dependents, or children for whom the adult has legal guardianship.
A Household includes up to two legal parents or guardians and their minor children. Membership credits may only be used by enrolled Household members.
A Household May Include
- Up to two adult legal parents or legal guardians
- Their minor children or legal dependents
- Children who have been formally added to the Household account in Arketa
A Household Does Not Include
- Friends, neighbors, classmates, teammates, or playdate guests
- Nannies, babysitters, au pairs, caregivers, or extended family members who are not legal guardians
- Cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, or other relatives unless the Household Owner is their legal guardian
- Families sharing a residence but not legal parent/guardian responsibility
- Separate households attempting to share a membership, credits, discounts, or guest privileges
Additional-Child Rate
- The $10 rate is subject to available space.
- The first child uses a membership visit.
- The additional-child rate applies only to children within the member’s verified Household.
- Each child must be booked individually.
Guardian-Presence Requirement
This is the operationally important provision:
- A legal parent or legal guardian of each child must remain physically present at Illuminate Studios for the entire duration of that child’s visit, class, or booked service, unless Illuminate Studios has provided written authorization for a specific drop-off program.
- A nanny, babysitter, grandparent, relative, friend, or other caregiver may not substitute for a legal guardian unless they have legal guardianship or Illuminate has approved an exception in writing.
- The present guardian must be able to promptly supervise, assist, and take responsibility for the child.
- A guardian may participate in an adult class, use approved coworking, or be elsewhere within the studio only when consistent with the child’s program and studio supervision policies.
- Illuminate is not a drop-off childcare facility unless a program is expressly advertised and enrolled as a drop-off program.
- If a guardian leaves the studio without written authorization, Illuminate may contact the guardian, end the child’s participation that day, and apply the applicable late pickup or policy-violation process.
